OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE: Tuesday May 06 2008 SUBJECT: Invitation to save a virtual world from extinction, the hearts of many still beating inside. This is an official invitation from Player Campaigns in an effort to save The Sims Online from virtual extinction. We are calling out to all online gamers and offline gamers from all virtual worlds from as far as every corner of the internet. Please follow this URL: http://www.playercampaigns.com and register today so we can begin the attempt to save our world in some form. The object of this site has many purposes, but the current focus is keeping EA-Land, formerly knows as The Sims Online, opened. Some ideas on the itinerary so far are: multiplying the Sims population to a profitable level, making an offer to purchase the game from Electronic Arts and having a user owned world or even creating as far as creating our own platform or private servers The Sims game series is the world’s largest selling to date, this being the case; it is extremely plausible to have a more than successful campaign outcome. This is not possible you say... please note that the game VMK (VirtualMagicKingdom), announced on April 7, 2008 that that game would be shut down because VMK was meant as a limited time promotion for the 50th anniversary of Disneyland. This sparked a fairly large amount of petitions to circle the Internet. The closure generated a new similar virtual world, created by former VMK fans, called Virtual Family Kingdom. If the fans of VMK could do it I am sure the fans of The Sims Online can achieve the same result or better with the help of all gaming communities and virtual cultures! Mark
